HC Rennen Heubach / Argovia Cup Capriasca
Schnee, Regen, Schlamm und Wind beeinflussten das letzte Rennwochenende. Während Luke und Robin Richtung Norden nach Heubach reisten, fuhren Nick, Tim und Elia Richtung Süden und erhofften sich wärmere Temperaturen im Tessin.
Die Vorfreude unserer «Tessin Fahrer» war gross, die Strecke anspruchsvoll und in bestem Zustand und alle waren voll motiviert. In der Nacht zum Renntag frischte der Wind auf und rüttelte heftig an den Wohnmobilen. Erst am Morgen wurde das Ausmass des Sturmes sichtbar, das Start- Zielgelände war verwüstet, die Streckenabsperrungen flatterten irgendwo. Mit der Sturmwarnung Stufe 3 war es problematisch sich in den Wald zu begeben und so sah sich die UCI gezwungen das Rennen abzusagen. Der Entscheid richtig aber die Enttäuschung riesig. Ein Novum in der Geschichte, niemand konnte sich erinnern, dass jemals ein Mountain Bike Rennen abgesagt werden musste.
Heftige Verhältnisse auch in Heubach. Schneeregen und Schlamm stellten Luke und Robin vor eine grosse Herausforderung. Luke erwischte einen sensationellen Start und stiess von Startposition 50 an die Spitze vor. In der zweiten und dritten Runde büsste er etwas für seinen Effort bevor er in Runde vier seinen Rhythmus wieder fand und das Rennen auf dem hervorragenden elften Rang beendete. Robin fand bei den widrigen Bedingungen nich richtig in’s Rennen und mit einem platten Reifen in der letzten Abfahrt reichte es ihm lediglich auf Rang 57.

Snow, rain, mud and wind dominated the racing over the weekend. While Luke and Robin travelled north to Heubach, Nick, Tim and Elia drove south and hoped for warmer temperatures in Ticino. The anticipation of our «Ticino riders» was great, the track demanding, in top condition and everyone highly motivated.
In Ticino during the night before the race weekend the wind picked up and shook the trees and campervans violently. Only in the morning the extent of the storm became visible; the start and finish area was devastated, the track barriers scattered everywhere. With the storm warning stage three it was problematic to go into the forest. Therefore the UCI was forced to cancel the race. The decision right, the disappointment however huge. A novelty in the history, nobody could remember the cancellation of another MTB race.
Heavy conditions also in Heubach. Rain and mud presented a great challenge for Luke and Robin. Luke had a sensational start and advanced from starting position fifty to the leaders. In the second and third laps he lost his effort, before he found his rhythm again in laps four and five and finished the race ranking an outstanding eleventh. Robin never really found his way into the race under the adverse conditions and with a flat tire in the last downhill he finished fifty-seventh.
